Hi! My name is Lara Samoilovich,

and I've been taking English classes since I was 8 years old. From what I learned from grammar books I could write emails using Conditionals, Phrasal Verbs, and Past Participle. However, by the time I turned 20, I still couldn't understand TV shows spoken in English, nor could I say much more than "I'm Argentinian", "I'm Franca's sister", and "no problem."

It was the journey I took with three native teachers over the last decade that enabled me to speak the language and familiarize my ear with American expressions and pronunciation.

With Steph from Jacksonville, we talked about travels, friendship, and cultures.

With Seth, we shared readings of science fiction and discussed US politics.

When I met Jen, one of my recent teachers, I thought it would be a typical grammar class. But we discovered that we were both food enthusiasts and greatly enjoyed sharing recipes.

We would spend 4 hours a week in my living room, talking almost exclusively about food. I learned the names of utensils, how to describe textures, smells, and flavors.

At that moment, It dawned on me: the best way to learn is through the topics that resonate with us.

Nobody wants to study grammar all day, but everyone wants to talk about their favorite topic for 30 minutes.

The Art of Conversation

Inspiration for Classes

Conversation has been what keeps my relationships alive forever. I can get together to watch a movie or play a board game, but what I enjoy the most is essentially conversation.

The sacred space between two people reflecting on a topic and learning something in that interaction.

I've been making my students talk in classes since I started teaching Spanish in 2015 in an old building in Palermo.

Because it's a part of me, because I'm curious to know their stories, and because it felt natural, it wasn't a technique.

However, It was when I realized that my students learned more as they spoke more about themselves, that I decided to transform my communicative classes into a method.

Método LARS

Método LARS (Language Acquisition through Real-world Speech) is based on:

\

30 minutes of conversation about topics that come to the student naturally, without forced prompts. Whatever you want to talk about, we're here to listen, share opinions, discuss, and take some notes.

\

In the following 20 minutes, we review any missing words, practice pronunciation, and study the verb tense or grammatical structure you need to learn.

\

And in the last 10 minutes, you memorize new vocabulary, we translate if necessary, and discuss plans for the rest of the week. It's a complete, effective combo, originated by you and guided by us.

Whether you're an expat, tourist, or language enthusiast, Enlinea Spanish opens its doors for you to enjoy Latin America's vibrant nature, food, social events, and more.
